RECIPES

Here you will find an archive of recipes from Let’s Bake meetings.  If you would like your recipes to be included please let Kirsty or Susan know at the meeting, or get in touch with us by e-mail/Twitter/Facebook and we will upload it for you.

The idea to publish our recipes came from finding an old copy of the Highland Housewives Cookbook, published in the late seventies by the Highland News.  The small cookbook was well used by my (Kirsty’s) granny (I’ve written a bit more about it on my blog here) and is a collection of tried and tested recipes submitted by local ladies who are all credited in the book.  We would love if this club and website could become the modern equivalent and becomes a place for us to share our favourite recipes.  Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a housewife, or even a lady to contribute!!

Honey & Chamomile Cupcakes

Peach Blueberry Mini Pies

  1. We are wheat and egg free, we cannot find any bread that we like
I’ve tried making some in my bread maker, but it hasn’t turned out a success, do you have any recipes for bread in a bread maker please

    1. Hello Joan, thanks for stopping by!We don’t have any recipes with those requirements. If you are local to Inverness I would check out the Highland food cooperative – they have a lot of products suitable for allergen baking so you might be able to get some assistance there!

  2. Hello Kirsty

I want to learn how to bake [recently retired] and have never baked much [50 years ago in school, the odd lemon meringue pie] -can you suggest a local place to do this …I love baking and try simple things each week with varying degrees of success

    1. Hi Linda, thanks for getting in touch. We have actually discussed this at our baking club a few times, and we don’t really know where to go for baking lessons. I know the college/university used to run evening and summer classes but I believe they’ve stopped doing them, which is a shame. I’ll keep a note of your email though and if I hear of anything I’ll let you know.
I’m a believer in home practice though, just work through some of your cook books and test of friends and family, you can’t go wrong!
      Kirsty x
